Meet the Team

Production Manager
Laura Jones
I’m a Production Manager with over 20 years’ experience in film and television. I’ve worked across BBC, CNN, HBO, National Geographic, Channel 4, ZDF, PBS, ESPN and Warner Bros., on everything from documentaries to live broadcast.
Along the way, the work has picked up an Emmy, two International Emmy nominations and a BAFTA.
I’ve worked on large-scale live broadcasts, including Premier League coverage, coordinating crews of 200+ for international transmission. I know how productions work, end to end, under pressure, at scale.
Over the past seven years, I’ve worked in parallel across short form projects, including helping run the Oxford Shorts Film Festival.
At the centre of it, I connect people, researchers, scientists, teachers, funders, businesses, and audiences, and use film to make those connections land.

Creative Director & Composer
Andy Carslaw
Films, film music and the process of filmmaking are my passion! Since graduating at Bournemouth University, I've worked on numerous films. In 2017, I directed the award winning short film 'Emmi' which was my first taste of the film festival circuit.
Shortly after this, I founded the international film festival 'Oxford Shorts' which has been running since 2019 at St John's College. I've been involve in all of the aspects running the festival including the festival programming, awards judging, as well covering the more artistic side creating trailers and programmes. The festival has grown year on year and we have showcased over 750 films, including films from Academy and BAFTA Award winning filmmakers.
My experience has largely been in the education sector having worked at The University of Oxford since 2001 where I have worked as a Web Manager, Conference Manager and also in communications creating short-form content. I like to get involved across all aspects of filmmaking from filming to editing, but in particular I enjoy composing music for films.

Animator
Nicholas Mitchell
I specialise in 2D animation, from rigs to hand drawn animation. My work is expressive and always packed with personality. I love to deal with different approaches, styles, idea and audiences, whether it's a serious topic or something fun and light hearted.
My background crosses disciplines covering design, production and post in film, game, events and interactive experiences. I’ve had the opportunity to work on a Lego game and photograph major events.
While my work focuses on animation for film, TV, explainers and education,
my original animation projects explore the human experience and our relationship with nature.

Photographer
Iaroslava Rizova
I've been passionate about photography since my school days, and I always approach this process with attention and curiosity.
I started with landscapes and portraits, and later moved on to events I feel grateful to be able to combine two things I love - photography and films. Speaking of which, I frequently attend film festivals for inspiration and feel excited every time I'm on set, whether I'm in charge of stills or behind-the-scenes photography.
I like to capture real moments and always respect whether a person wants to be in front of the camera or not. I enjoy experimenting with different angles and tools to achieve results, and I strive to keep photos looking natural and authentic even after editing.
In my portfolio, you can find event from various film festivals, such as Oxford Shorts, Sunrise Film Festival, Shortsighted Cinema, London Fashion Week, and a panel discussion by the McNulty Foundation and Aspen Institute.
